Welcome to Standalone Farm! We’re thrilled to have you visit our animals and explore the grounds. To ensure a safe and healthy experience for everyone, please follow these important guidelines:
Stop the Spread of Germs: Wash Your Hands Frequently!
Animals (and people!) can carry germs that can make you sick. But don’t worry, proper handwashing is your best defense! Wash hands thoroughly with soap and warm water after:
- Touching any animals or surfaces in animal areas.
- Removing dirty shoes or boots worn on the farm.
Make handwashing a habit! Wash before eating, drinking, and whenever your hands feel dirty. Supervising adults, keep a close eye on children to ensure they follow proper handwashing techniques.
Pregnant Women: Be cautious around all animals, especially sheep and lambs. It’s best to avoid close contact to minimize health risks.

Keeping Everyone Safe:
Standalone Farm offers a variety of experiences, but safety is always our top priority. Here are some things to keep in mind:
Respect the Animals:
Don’t:
Feed the horses (their diet is carefully controlled).
Put fingers in cages.
Chase or frighten animals.
Kiss or squeeze animals – they might bite!
Do:
Feed animals using feed bought/provided at the farm.
Use a flat, open hand when feeding animals feed provided by the farm.
Supervise children closely around all animals.
Mind Your Surroundings:
Watch your step! Uneven surfaces and changing weather conditions can create slippery areas. Wear proper footwear with good treads.
Report any hazards you see, like a particularly muddy patch or a loose fence board, to a staff member immediately.
Stay on designated paths and avoid picking plants or flowers.
Other Reminders:
Smoking is only permitted in designated areas outside the farm buildings.
Keep food and drinks in designated picnic areas or cafes. Don’t feed your own food to the animals.
Pick up after yourselves and dispose of trash properly.
Teachers and Parents: You play a vital role in ensuring a safe and enjoyable visit for your group. In addition to the above, keep a watchful eye on children especially near ponds and water features.
First Aid: Minor cuts and scrapes happen. Cover any wounds with a plaster, wash your hands thoroughly, and report the incident to a staff member. First aid supplies are also available at the ticket kiosk.
We are pleased to have been awarded the NAFAN Certificate of Conformity
